Catholics Converged To Pray For Our Nation

KUALA LUMPUR:-Many Catholics in the Archdiocese of Kuala Lumpur observed August 26, as a Day of Prayer and Fasting for our Nation. Several Churches held Mass and Adoration.

At the Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, Fr Joseph Stephen CSsR celebrated the Mass with Fr Lawrence Andrew SJ as con-celebrant.

Fr Joe said God listen to everyone prayers. There are people who cheat, deceived, who also pray. “What are we praying for? We pray for clean elections, good governance, clean government, for our country, the economy and for all Malaysians. God is listening and that’s why we fast and pray in community prayer to eradicate all these problems encountering our nation”.

The Redemptorist priest made reference to the Gospel passage; saying God knows.’The outside you are good but the inner side not’. God will answer our prayers. Fr Joe called on Catholics to continue to pray that God will bring about change in our country. Sometimes our leaders are corrupted, we need to hit bottom line, until God hear our prayers to redeem our nation. “Pray for conversion and newness of our country, pray unceasingly”.

“We pray also for all those who march for change; do in the Name of God- for change in you, in us and in the leaders that will change and respect one another. In a non- violence manner ( making reference to Bersih 4.0 Rally), showing their frustration and concerned at what is happening in the country”.

Fr Joe invited all to seek God to give us hope. Ponder, all is not useless, let us trust and believe that there will be a new Malaysia. Let’s continue to pray for our nation.

After Mass, the hour long Adoration took place, where the Blessed Sacrament was exposed. Fr Lawrence told the assembly to pray that the Bersih 4.0 Rally will be peaceful and that God will protect them. Vespers and hymns were also prayed and sung. A short video clip on Bersih was also shown. The assembly prayed for our nation, the judiciary, clean government, the people of Malaysia, among others.Benediction concluded the celebration
