KUALA LUMPUR:-The last Penitential Service for the Archdiocese of Kuala Lumpur for Advent was held at the Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus (SHC) on Dec 21, after the 7pm Mass celebrated by Fr Christopher W. Soosaipillai from the Church of the Good Shepherd in Setapak. (Image)

In his homily, Fr Chris said “God loved us first before you and I love him”

The diocesan priest said the ‘Year of Mercy’ is God’s love for us. Let us receive His mercy through the Sacrament of Reconciliation, because our hearts need to prepare for the Lord. Christmas begins from the heart and it must be felt in your heart first, Fr Chris emphasized.

He also said when Mary visited her cousin Elizabeth, the baby in Elizabeth’s womb leap for joy because God’s Spirit was with Mary who brings joy to the baby.

“God will give us His joy too and love through Jesus His Son. As we receive healing and mercy from the Lord, let us share His mercy too to others”.

In ending, Fr Chris ask the assembly to ask God to strengthen us and renew us.

After Mass, from 7.35pm onwards, some 16 priests including Archbishop Julian Leow and SHC parish priest Fr Edwin Peter were present, for the disposal of the some 400 faithful who came in good numbers for Confessions, that were conducted in three languages.

The Penitential Service ended after 9.30pm, due to the large crowd. Many were glad to have made it, as they wanted to ensure their hearts are well prepared, as they want to receive the Saviour of the world in a more purity manner, this Christmas.
