The Feast of the Baptism of the Lord was celebrated on 8th January 2018 at the Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus at 7pm. Parish priest Fr. Edwin Peter celebrated Mass, with the presence of Bro. Simon Lau.
Welcoming the congregation of approximately 100 faithful, Fr. Edwin said “A few more hours today, before the Season of Christmas ends. Tomorrow onwards is Ordinary Time, where the Readings will speak about the adult Jesus going around and preaching in His ministry.”
Fr. Edwin continued. “If you read the news on the internet, there are many things happening with celebrities; about their lifestyle, which is not real, not authentic. These celebrities are acting in movies and films; but life in reality could be different. Then there are also the politicians, who sometimes do not work for the common good of the public, with contradicting views.”
Speaking about the Baptism of the Lord, Fr. Edwin said “Jesus’ baptism is not for repentance of sins, but revelation that this is ‘My Son, the Beloved’. Our baptism is for the repentance of sins.”
“God has given us a new creation, a new year- 2018″. We ought to live a real, authentic life. There are some living a ‘WhatsApp life’. Live a meaningful life in the Lord. What we experienced during Christmas, ‘Emmanuel- God is with us’. Treasure it.”
After Mass, Fr. Edwin introduced Bro. Simon to the assembly, who mentioned that both he and Bro. Dominic will be ordained to the diaconate on 23rd January 2018 at the Church of St. Anthony, Kuala Lumpur.
