The Feast of The Sacred Heart of Jesus Novena & Mass begins on the 10th of June 2023 at the Church of The Sacred Heart of Jesus, KL. The theme for this year’s celebration ‘Feed My Lambs’ (John 21:15) invited the faithful to reflect and pray, especially for vocations. With a sub-theme daily, the Novena & Mass were celebrated by a few priests from the Archdiocese of Kuala Lumpur together with the parish priest Msgr Stanislaus Soosamariam. Among the priests who attended during the 9 days celebration were Rev. Fr. William Michael, Rev. Fr. Bonaventure Rayappan, Rev. Fr. Michael Das, and Rev. Fr. Albet Arockiasamy. On the final day of the celebration, 18th June 2023, Archbishop Julian Leow presided over the Mass. Rev. Fr. Robert Kham from the Myanmar Community and Rev. Fr. Philip Chua, was also among the celebrants as it was a multilingual Mass.
This year the celebration of the feast draws many more parishioners and visitors to come together as one community to pray for Vocation. On the final day, there was a candlelight procession after Mass. Archbishop Julian Leow, Msgr Stanisalus, Fr. Philip Chua and Fr. Robert Kham took turns carrying the monstrance around the surrounding neighborhood. The procession was joined by a few Catechism children who dressed themselves as our Clergy, children from the Myanmar Community, the Communion Ministers, and the parishioners. Everyone returned to church for the adoration of the Blessed Sacrament before adjourning for a dinner fellowship to close the festivities.
